▶Abstract : The recent excitement around artificial intelligence (AI) has sparked bold claims that we've already achieved it. But these claims aren't new. AI's history is full of similar declarations. By examining this history alongside developments in cognitive science, I'll show how fundamental issues, particularly the mind-body problem, have been consistently overlooked in current discussions about AI. Understanding these unresolved issues reveals significant limitations in today's large language models (LLMs).

This talk takes an informal, conversational approach rather than a formal research presentation. My goal is to encourage the audience to think more critically about AI and to recognize the recurring hype-bust cycle that has characterized the field throughout its history.
